Seven Characteristics of Creative Thinking1. Receptivity - Be open to new ideas; welcome new experiences.
2. Attentiveness - Every experience is potentially valuable.
3. Conviction - Tenaciously pursue an independent path.
4. Curiosity - Research unusual topics; analyze unfamiliar systems.
5. Wide Range of Interests - With more components, the number of combinations increase.
6. Seeking Connections - See the similarity between disparate parts.
7. Complexity - Combine the irrational with the intuitive.
This is my topic for this week. Now all of these are important when it comes to being a creative artist. Now lets talk about number one, if you aren't open to new ideas and experiences, how are you going to better yourself? If you look at some of the world's most talented artists, no doubt that some of their pieces are based on experiences that they have been through. Number 2 I agree that this is important, as a artists it is all about being creative, seeing things in ways that other people can't. By capturing things like that it's like you are opening their eyes to these things, like opening a window and having them see something new.
Now on number 3, I can personally say that when I do something I try and always give it my all. But most of the time it doesn't always turn out right, but thats okay. As long as you try and give it your all, you will most likely like the outcome. Which is important in art, though technically there is now mistakes in art because the interpertant is up to the viewer. Now not much can be said about number 4 because I think everyone has had a moment in their life were they were curious. Its a natural thing. I agree with number 5 because its good to be good at one thing, but its better to be good at lots of things because that will add variety to your art.
I agree on number 6 because for example, if you are looking at a piece of art and are trying to figure out what it is suppose to mean or the message, by looking at different elements of the piece and making connections, you would be able to tell what it was about. Now I am not entirely sure what 7 means; though I do think that it means bring real and fantasy together or any combination really. Combining different elements together to make to the most spectacular piece of art.
Well thats really all I got to say on this. Sorry about the extra long blog today. Just wanted to make sure my point was clear.
